Creating A Sales Tsunami To Your Business

I have been affiliate marketing online, on and off for about a year or two now. My system is probably very similar to 99% of other affiliates, You know the deal, research a market, find a product to promote, research the competition, research keywords, then try and drive traffic and hope for conversions.

That’s a pretty simple outline of a hand full of steps involved in affiliate marketing. What you must know is, that if you plan on being an affiliate marketer, you’ll soon realize that it will be allot more complex than just a few simple steps. For example: Do you need to build a web site or web page? Maybe you’ll want to direct link to an offer. Have you researched analytics and conversion tracking and what you need to do to set it up? Driving traffic is your main aim and you need to work out how to drive it, eg: Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Web 2.0 social traffic, PPC, or as I have done, used a combination.

I don’t want to go into too much detail about setting up affiliate campaigns, that’s a whole separate ball game, and not why I wrote this article. What I did want to converse is how an affiliate marketer takes the next step-up to developing his/her own products. As I said before, I have had moderate success as an affiliate marketer, but it seems to me, there is more money to be made as a vendor. Please don’t take me the wrong way, I love affiliate marketing and think its is one of, if not, the best place for beginner marketers to cut their teeth.

If you take a look at the guru’s of Internet marketing, they all have one thing in common… They create their own products. Many of these “guru’s” are seen as leaders or authority figures within there chosen market, and people tend to treat them accordingly. This is where it’s at, by developing and creating your own product/products you can position yourself as an authority figure in your market place.

If you think about it, the competition between affiliates is huge. Lets look at the popular Clickbank, for varying reasons, it’s often the first point of call for newbie affiliate marketers. Just take a look at how many “make money with Clickbank” training guides, programs and courses there are available online today. Hundreds of newbies are being pointed towards Clickbank everyday.

Think about this for a minute… What if you had your own product that affiliates could sign up with and promote? What if your product was on Clickbank? The potential is huge, you could have literally hundreds of affiliates around the world selling your product for you. Think about the financial benefits, and how they could flow for years after you have created your product. I know of at least one marketer who created a product over 2 years ago and to this day he is still seeing affiliate generated sales flowing into his bank account on virtual auto-pilot.

So it seems to me, that if your serious about “making it” online, and want to take your affiliate marketing to the next level, then definitely start thinking about creating your own unique product. I know, it’s easier said, but with experience, comes knowledge, and over time you can start to develop a “vendor mind set”. Try and identify gaps in your niche or market, back yourself, and fill those gaps.
